Last season was the first inaugural season of Basketball Guru and there has been a lot of learning and development. We have taken what we learned from last season and made some big changes.
Resign Process
Starting in the 2017 Offseason, GMs will be able to resign their player using a Resign Calculator located on the Master Roster.
Steps on how to use the Resign Calculator:
1. Navigate to the Master Roster
2. Navigate to a sheet titled 'Resign Calculator' on the Master Roster
3. Put in the name of the player you are wanting to resign
4. Put in the average fantasy points per game for the season the player averaged in the past season
5. Under the salary column, an amount will display. This amount is the guaranteed resign amount that you can resign your player for.
Dispute Process
In the case that a GM does not agree with the amount the calculator displays, the General Manager may file a dispute. This dispute shall be reviewed and voted on by members of the Trade Committee. It takes two out of three Trade Committee members to approve a dispute for it to pass. Creating disputes over insignificant amounts may lead to penalties. Regardless of whether a dispute is approved or not, all disputes must contain numbers in context with other comparisons as well as salary comparisons with other players at similar positions and similar stats. A brief, hashed out dispute thread is subject to rejection. The more information, the better the chance at resigning a player.
If a dispute is rejected, the General Manager will still be given the option to resign the player using the amount the calculator has given. If the General Manager refuses to resign their player using the amount given by the calculator after a failed dispute, the player who is being resigned enters off-season free-agency and the General Manager loses one of his three resigns for the current resign period.
Master Roster
With the assistance of several General Managers, a new master roster has been developed and built from the ground up. We have made it easier to read, faster and more transparent. All cap holds have been eliminated and replaced with the individual players that composed the cap hold. These players are eligible to be solely or packaged together and traded to another team to clear up cap space.
Starting in the 2017-2018 season, General Managers will no longer be able to trade cash. Instead, General Managers will trade waived player contracts.
In addition, the formulas for 'Total' cap spent and 'Cap Remaining' have been reworked and updated to ensure cap hold will always be reflected. Previously, we've had cases where salaries or the entire cap hold was not being calculated. Now, the formula has been reworked to ensure no amount of added or subtracted rows will affect the integrity of the formula used to calculate 'Total' cap spent.
