You are free to drop players at any time as long as you adhere to these rules.
Waiving a Player
If you want to waive or cut a player, you may do so by placing his name in the Waiver Wire. If a team claims the waived player within 48 hours, they now assume that contract (you are free!). If no one claims that player, you are responsible for 75% of their contract for the remaining years.
Any player claimed off of waivers gets his contract fully guaranteed.
The Amnesty Clause
Every team is allowed ONE amnesty to use as they wish. Here's how it works:
- The amnesty will completely remove a player's remaining contract from your books and make the player a free agent immediately (i.e. no waiver wire).
- The amnesty clause can only be used from the beginning of the off-season till October 1st.
- The amnesty clause never expires
