The Portland Sam Hinkies are back with another trade!
Minnesota Receives: Jerian Grant 2.00 2.00 2.80 3.90 $4M
Portland Receives: 2016 NOP 1st (#16) 2016 GSW 2nd (#17) 2016 SAS 2nd (#30)
The Portland Trailblazers, in fully adopting the former GM Sam Hinkie's philosophy on the draft, are stockpiling assets. This trade yields 2 fairly decent mid rounders and a late pick to further bolster our treasury. Minnesota receives a promising point guard in Jerian Grant to complement their inevitable shipping of Ricky Rubio as well as $4M to help stave off the cap issue.

The honest truth is that, while a lot of things can happen in the offseason, it is remarkably unlikely these second rounders were going to wind up on my roster this year. Even if they were to wind up as promising prospects, I am inevitably going to wind up trimming my roster to 15, and the current state of my team dictates I'll need to start seeing results within the next couple of seasons, if not this upcoming one. I don't think Grant will replace Rubio (I haven't actually even traded Rubio). But I do think that it's likely that either he or Galloway will pan out over the coming year to be at least a bench player, and I think Grant in particular does show enough promise to warrant a spot for the next four years. The money is going to put me within a cut of the cap--which is exactly where my roster spots are, too.

As a Blazers fan, this is the only time I have ever enjoyed that gif. I also forgot to mention that part of my motivation here is how entertained I am by Portland's quest to have all 2nd rounders.

Man I feel so sad for my 1st round pick getting passed around to each team. Hopefully it will find its way back to the Pelicans, as they say, if you love something let it go. If it comes back to you it's yours. If it doesn't, it never was.
What am I doing again?
Oh yeah.
I accept.
