Rookie Draft RegulationsWe pair up each team with its corresponding real life NBA teams by record. Ex. John Smith misses the playoffs and has the worst record in our league. The Sixers have the worst record in the real NBA. If the Sixers land the 1st overall pick, so does John - if they land the 3rd, so does John. Pick timings:
- Top 5 picks have 2 days to make their pick.
- Picks 6-16 of the first round have 12 hours
- 2nd Rounders are allotted 6 hour slots when the Round begins.
- There is a break between the hours of 12am and 9am CST
Contracts and Eligibility:- 1st Rounders are automatically signed to their team on the last day of the draft.
- 2nd Rounders must be signed in the Rookie Section threads provided.
- The draft rights of first rounders who do not instantly play in the NBA are held by their team until the player does join an NBA team. The salaries are paid normally with no deductions.
- The draft rights of second rounders who do not instantly play in the NBA are held by their team until the player does join an NBA team. The salaries are paid normally with no deductions.
Miscellaneous:- In the rare case that a team misses their pick, that pick is forfeited. In the event that a draft board is submitted to the commissioner, the draft board will be used to make the team's pick when their time has expired.

The draft rights of first rounders who do not instantly play in the NBA are held by their team until the player does join an NBA team. The salaries are not paid until the player joins the NBA. When an international player who does not immediately come over is drafted, he is assigned a contract based on where he was drafted and that contract continues on until it expires or the player comes over to the NBA.
The draft rights of second rounders who do not instantly play in the NBA are held by their team until the player does join an NBA team. The salaries are not paid until the player joins the NBA. When an international player who does not immediately come over is drafted, his draft rights must be claimed in the second round signings thread. When a second round pick comes over, the GM then has the option to sign the player to a second round contract.
Scenario 1
Team A drafts Dario Šarić with the eleventh pick in the first round of the Basketball Guru draft. Dario Šarić comes over to the NBA. Team A may relinquish their draft rights else Dario Šarić is signed to Team A on the contract that the eleventh pick would receive if the draft were to happen today.
Scenario 2
Team B drafts Bogdan Bogdanović in the second round of the Basketball Guru draft. Bogdan Bogdanović comes over to the NBA. The GM who drafted Bogdan Bogdanović will have the option to either relinquish their draft rights or sign him to a second round contract.

A formal note: the current Basketball Guru administration will no longer be recognizing draft and stash rules. Please prepare to sign your players within the off-season you draft them or lose their rights. Thank you.
