I've graded every draft pick of the last three seasons to determine who has made the best fantasy selections.
At #1 we have Boston, who produced +115 Grade value with only 3 picks! While most of that was generated by taking Tyler Herro 21st overall in 2019, that is the same amount of bonus value generated as other elite franchises with 10 to 11 picks. Impressive (albeit a small sample size.)
With the #2 spot comes Old Vancouver, who generated similar value on 7 picks, thanks to incredibly late selections featuring Landry Shamet and Anfernee Simons, along with taking Deandre Ayton 1st overall. Note that this doesn't take into account dropped or traded players -- only the quality of the selections themselves at the time of the draft. Many of these selections were dropped into FA or traded for peanuts.
Portland, Denver, and Dallas come in at #3, #4, and #5 on solid per-pick production over a massive amount of picks (10-11 selections each.) Portland and Dallas grabbed the most amount of total talent, along with Chicago's massive haul in 2019 alone.
Draft Grades
Top 50 Picks
Here are the best selections in the last three years. Dallas's Bam Adebayo at #20 comes in first, Boston's Tyler Herro at #21 comes in second, Portland's John Collins at #16 comes in third, Old Chicago's Jarrett Allen at #18 comes in fourth, while Los Angeles' Donovan Mitchell at #10 and Denver's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander at #11 are tied for fifth, trailed narrowly by Minnesota's Lauri Markkanen at #13.
Top 25 Busts
Here are the biggest busts of the last three years (not including Lisa Ann.)
Picks By Team
And finally, we have a list of all the picks ordered by team. Thanks for reading, and good luck in the 2020 Draft!
P.S.: I just noticed RJ Barrett is listed as Dallas's pick even though Toronto selected him. Some picks traded during the draft window will undoubtedly have been modified on Wolves' sheet, so a few of these may be incorrect but I'm not going through all of them to fix everything. Cheers!
