Philly sends:
Troy Brown Jr (0.5, 1.0) Phoenix 2021 2nd rounder ——————————————-
Nolly sends:
Gary Harris (7.0, 7.0, 7.0, 7.0) Jordan Clarkson (5.0, 5.0) Boston 2020 1st rounder _____________________________
I accept. Taking a chance on two players (both available for trades ASAP) for the Boston pick. I wish tbj was on a longer contract but that’s my own mistake.

I accept. Basically, I've agreed to "downgrade"* from Jokic to Bam in exchange for (1) ditching another year of Jordan Clarkson at $5m; (2) ditching two more years of Gary Harris at $7m; (3) adding Chris Paul for at least this year; (4) taking TBJ this year and an option on him for $1m next year; and (5) a 2nd rounder [from the guy whos about to use a re-sign on DLO, no less ].** I didnt have a lot of time before the deadline to make this team my own, but I feel alright about what I've done. *I still think Bam may prove himself to compare well to Jokic as a long-term play (especially considering their current contract values), in which case these moves would be crazy windfall. Ultimately, though, I've improved my odds to contend this year, given myself an additional $12m in cap space for when all the expirings contracts I inherited gut punch my team's competitiveness, and grabbed a couple (at least marginal) future prospects. I think I could have made flashier moves with more time, but I feel pretty good about these. **j/k. Suns is a great team and I'm a bigger fan than most of D Russell.

I approve. I tried to talk myself into Gary at the deadline, but I couldn't talk myself into the idea that he's not one of those "good player, crummy fantasy asset" guys. That in mind, this is a wild amount of cap to take on for a pick. WILD.

Can't sleep. I'm going to run the trade deadline gamut.
This is a coup for Pelicans, who is dumping two of the worst contracts in the league in Harris and Clarkson. Both are very close to dead money. I know there are some Gary Harris believers out there (somewhere), so I won't flat out call him dead money, but man....
this this basically:
Very Close Dead Money 12m, 12m, 7m 1st round pick
for
Insane cap relief of 31m!!!!!! Troy Brown
Dallas offered a 1st rounder to take on Parsons 7m 7m contract and the league balked. That was 14m.
This is 31m.
That is an incredible price to pay for a 1st round pick.
That first round pick would have to average around 35 FPPG per year for 5 years just to BREAK EVEN taking on that much money... the pick basically has to turn into an All-Star like Ayton to be a positive. How many rookies become that good?
It's possible, and Ayton and Collins on Philly's roster is evidence that can and does happen, so it is certainly possible the 76ers comes out ahead in this trade.
The money is frontloaded, so for a tanking team and from Philly's perspective it could be seen as 19m, which means 30 FPPG to break even... but that is still a very high bar.
Pelicans, in terms of probability, wins this trade hard, especially since he IS competing this year, and next, so that 31m is a legit 31m shed. Fantastic work.
Philly, with a great pick, could come out ahead, and it is well within his prerogative to bet on himself and his acumen in rookie selection. I respect that.
Pretty easy trade to pass. I prefer NOLA's side but props to 76ers for trusting his drafting skills and going for the higher ceiling side of the deal.
I approve.
