NOLA trades:
- Nikola Jokic (17m/17m/17m/17m)
CHI trades:
- Bam Adebayo (0.7m) - Chris Paul (14.5m/14.5m) - BOS 2020 1st - POR 2022 2nd - Waived contract of Tyreke Evans (3m)
I accept. Blockbuster deal, but this gets me a top-10 player so it's hard to refuse. I'll miss Bam Adebayo, and the likely top 5 pick, but it's worth it.

I accept.
I tend to like Bam for 5 at 15 just as much or more than Jokic for 3 at 17. View Jokic as something of a fall-off risk given his persistent conditioning issues. Plus I get CP3 to help me win this year, and some pretty decent draft consideration to boot.

big trade!
pretty fair, i mean apples to apples i'd rather have 8 years of jokic, locked into 3 years of a contract he'll almost certainly outplay by millions since you're buying at his absolute low, and he's only 2 years older than bam.... 8 years of a team built around jokic is better than 6 of bam as a clint capela-type roleplayer/almost star, also jokic is proven all-nba talent, bam has only shown 1 good season.
there's definitely something to be said for just getting the best player in a trade for the most years and fucking off, you're getting a guaranteed asset -- something that old pelicans loved. he was all about floors. his house doesn't have a roof irl.
the pels get better now, with bam/cp3 giving more overall production, and a 1st rounder. if you're confident you're the best GM and can land the pick in the rookie draft, then it has the potential to be worth more than jokic alone. could be a winning trade, there's more variance and risk.
i have trouble knowing which side of this trade i'd want, which is a good sign both GMs did well.
i hope the hideous, malformed, and reviled nuggets end up regretting bringing pelicans into this league and that he knocks him out in the playoffs > : )
jokic is better floor, bam/pick/cp3 is better ceiling.
great trade by both sides!
i approve.

I approve. I'll also always lean towards the side that gets the best player, and Jokic is that. This is the second time in like a month that Bam has been the principle in a trade for a player I thought was better, so clearly I might need to adjust, but breaking into that top 5-10 player range is rarified air and I don't know if he's got it. But this is a huge short-term boost(and very probably not a *huge* long term loss) for Pels and that makes a lot of sense for them. Nice work fellas.
