Prior to being traded to the NBA Philadelphia 76ers Tobias Harris averaged 34.8fp per game, good enough for a 11m per year re-sign and the 40th highest per game average in the league.
After being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers Tobias saw his 3pt%, Fg%, Ft%, Efg% (all while shooting from almost identical spots on the floor mind you), points per game, defensive rebounds, and steals drop (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/harrito02.html#per_game::none).
In fact his fp per game dropped to 32.5fp, that's a re-sign drop of almost 10% according to the leagues re-sign calculator.
Some league owners will say that now that Jimmy Butler is out of Philadelphia Tobias will have more shots. Makes sense, right? You're wrong and you should feel bad. Al Horford is there and will presumably take some of the power forward minutes from Tobias and some of his minutes at Center (His time played at center DOUBLED since being traded to Philly from the Clippers). The Sixers also traded for Josh Richardson from the Miami Heat, who coincidentally averaged a very similar amount of shot attempts per game as Jimmy Butler. (14.1 for Richardson, 13.9 for Butler in 18-19)
What i'm getting at is that since being traded to Philly he's had issues playing in their system. His stats have dropped across the board, his shooting clips have dropped across the board, new players have been brought in that will almost surely take minutes from him.
The Sixers have one of the most talented rosters in the league and Tobias will be slotted as their 4th or possibly 5th option on offense behind Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, Al Horford and possibly Josh Richardson.
What this boils down to:
55 games with the clippers= 20.9ppg/7.9reb/2.7ast on 49/43/87 splits. That's almost 21ppg on 50/40/90 shooting. Do you know how many players have made the 50/40/90 club since 1979-1980 season? EIGHT. Dwight Howard has more kids than that for crying out loud
27 games with the 76ers= 18.2ppg/7.9reb/2.9ast on 46/32/84 splits. Philly took him from what would have been good enough for 5th in the league in 3pt% (behind only Joe Harris, Danny Green, Seth Curry, Steph Curry) to 119th in the league. That's atrocious. I'm beginning to think the 3pt line is a few feet back in the Wells Fargo arena based on Tobias's and Ben Simmons shooting.
Harris was a better fantasy player with the Clippers, since being traded to the Sixers his production has dropped enough to make him an overpay at 11m per year. 2/3 of last season was spent with the Clippers, therefore inflating his fantasy value. He is statistically a different player in Philadelphia and I have the data that shows my argument (posted above). Multiple counting stats have dropped, shooting percentages have plummeted while taking shots from almost identical spots on the floor.
What i'm proposing is a re-sign of 9.5m per year for 5 years with a team option on the 5th and final year. This takes Tobias from the age of 27-32 and accounts for him having to share the ball with 3 all stars. That aligns perfectly with the league's re-sign calculator (32fp for 9.5m)
