Dallas Mavericks trade: SF/PF Kyle Kuzma $2,500,000 $2,500,000Waived contract of Chandler Parsons $7,500,000 $7,500,000Total outgoing: $10,000,000 Total incoming: $8,000,000
Los Angeles Lakers trade: SF Otto Porter Jr. $8,000,000 $8,000,000 $8,000,000 $8,000,000 $8,000,000Total outgoing: $8,000,000 Total incoming: $10,000,000 I accept. I get out from under Chandler Parsons' contract and open up some cap space. Porter has not looked too good early on but I'm hoping he can shake off the rust and come back strong after a monstrous swat on Damian Lillard after last night's game ( )

I accept. I really like Kuzma he's on a cheaper contract then porter so the Chandler contract barely effects me especially the fact that I have 20 + million in money I can spend. Kuzma is a key player for a lakers roster with Lebron there.and he's starting to heat up with a 50 FP last night.

This trade is horrible (but barely TC passable) with just Otto (28 FPPG, locked in starter, 5 year contract) for Kuzma (22 FPPG before suspensions, coming off bench, 2 year contract), and a big win for the Mavs.
Getting to dump Parsons 7.5m 7.5m on top of that should cause this to be DENIED.
Multiple teams rejected that Parsons dump FOR A 1ST ROUNDER. This is absurd.
Block this trade.

So I hate this trade. From where I'm standing, Mavs is getting a player who has done plenty enough to prove himself in the NBA to justify his contract in exchange for two years of a guy who is in a questionable situation and is only maybe actually good? And that is before you factor in the Parsons money. Lakers is clearly
*Overvaluing Kuzma (re: an IRL Laker) *Overvaluing youth *Undervaluing Porter (whos "poor start" has been greatly exaggerated)
Here's the thing: he is not alone in doing these things! At all! Fantasy GMs love young guys with *potential* and idiot Lakers fans think all of their players are all the next superstar. We're a week into the season and everyone is panicking about their guys who are underwhelming (no I won't trade KAT still he's fine guys). If I thought Lakers was trying deliberately to let Mavs mug him, I'd vote against this trade, but I honestly think he's doing it because he likes the trade. He really does have a whole ton of cap space, and while I think he could clearly get more out of it, it's not hard to see how he wouldn't worry about the money given almost all of his cheap, cheap contracts continue through next season.
I firmly believe it's the TC's job to prevent collusion, not poor choice making, and I vote accordingly. So I approve. This trade is disgusting, as are the two GMs making it. They should be ashamed of themselves. But carry on.

I agree with Wolves' logic. But it doesn't matter. Because isn't it illegal to trade Porter until December 15th? He was just re-signed this offseason.
"Players resigned cannot be traded until December 15th of the regular season following their signing." -http://basketballguru.proboards.com/thread/708/resign-regulations
Therefore, I think we need to cancel this trade. And if you guys want to do this trade in 6 weeks, go for it. But, I think this trade should be changed a bit. Kuzma for Porter is basically the same thing. Porter is a bit more expensive, but a bit more productive. Porter has a longer term contract, but he doesn't need a re-sign in the next 2 years. I'd have hoped the Lakers could get more from Porter than he has. But luckily he has been saved by a league rule.

Alright. As this has been pointed out to me. Our re-signing rules page was not updated to match the trading regulations page. This is a rule that was brought in during the early summer. And the Lakers are allowed to trade Otto Porter. Therefore, long story short. I approve.
I totally agree with the logic of the Wolves.
Basically, Otto will average between 28 and 32. Kuzma will average the same, with the potential to improve. Otto, less so.
As far as I see it, the trade is swapping similar players.
The part where I have trouble with the Lakers side of this deal is that Kuzma is cheap for 2 years, and when you partner him with the Parsons contract, you basically get a net money loss, similar points return, and in 2 years, when the Parsons contract is gone you need to re-sign Kuzma....likely to the same or higher contact than you just re-signed Porter to.
The TC is in charge of stopping collusion, but also, we should make sure that should GMs leave, teams aren't devoid of any potential for success. I don't think this trade is that bad. Looking at the positives Kuzma could develop and become a 35-40 guy. If he does, the Lakers will have to pay for it, but, I don't think this trade ruins the value of the Lakers at all.
Well done Mavericks. A real Charlotte-type trade. I thought you left this sort of league rattling stuff behind when you moved cities.
