Timberwolves send
2018 MIN 1st Danilo Gallinari $8,000,000 $8,000,000 Clint Capela $500,000 $500,000
Sixers Send
Damian Lillard $22,400,000 $23,900,000 $25,500,000 Alan Williams $500,000 (waived) Henry Ellenson $600,000 (waived)
efective cap impact: The Timberwolves take on $15 Million for the 2017-18 season My team of value guys on a budget made it past the first hurdle last year, but we're shooting for the title this year. Damian's monster contract is almost certainly the only reason he's available, but I am not giving up an unreasonable amount to get him, and my team is set up to carry the burden. I have avoided giving up my picks so far, but with Lillard around I'm confident my 2018 pick will be the last one in the first round.

I accept. I clear up some cap space for free agency and get some good value guys and a pick.

I accept.
I'll summarize my thoughts:
Philadelphia 76ers
Philadelphia is trading for a 14-16 pick in next year's draft which is weaker than this year's draft.
Clint Capela is not going to be resigned so Philadelphia gets a 2 year rental of him.
So Philly is giving up Lillard, who's only negative is his contract, a pretty big negative though. He's improved from last season and is only 26 years old so he should consistently produce 40+ FPPG unless something crazy happens. He increased his fantasy production from last season, should only improve going forward with some of the defense focusing on CJ and Nurkic now.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Trading a first rounder for Damian Lillard. Damian Lillard is a type of player not found in off-season free-agency. Giving up a first rounder is well worth Lillard.
Lillard's price is high and he will never outperform or meet his contract value.
Minnesota has young pieces on inexpensive contracts so I think Lillard is manageable.
Overall, I think this trade is a huge win for Minnesota and a loss for the EOTY.

I think 2 years of Capela is all you really need. But those contracts being so big are pretty difficult to move and when you are paying a player over the max contract you need him to be a superstar. That is what Lillard is. Great trade for the Wolves. But, the amount of mistakes you can make signing other guys now lessens significantly.
Meanwhile Gallo, while injury prone, can also easily be a 30-35 fppg player in the league which is solid.
I also would have thought Lillard would have been worth more, but you can only get what the market is willing to give.
I accept.
